Same-day Premium service for UK visas - the benefits

It is useful if you need to travel abroad and cannot be without your passport. But the main benefit in our opinion is, although more expensive, it allows the applicant to know result right on the day, including if there are any problems, rather than waiting for 3-4 months postal service and then possibly being told there is a problem or even that application has been refused. We at 1st 4Immigration are authorised by The UK Border Agency to submit clients' visa applications using this service in Croydon, south London. The slots (appointments) we use are separate from the ones offerred to the general public, our cases are submitted to a separate Team who deals with cases from representatives. We can submit the following visa applications every week but need to give the Home Office details of an individual client in advance. Same-day service is available for applications: - Indefinite Leave to Remain for those holding Tier 1 General, Tier 2 General, Work Permit, Spouse/P...

I'd like to apply for an ILR but I'm short of just a few days/weeks/months before 'my' 5 years. What to do?

Very common situation! There are 2 things to consider: 1) You can apply within 28 days before 'your' 5 years, so that's almost a month already added. 2) Look at the date when your Entry Clearance (usually a yellow visa issued outside the UK) was issued. Then at the date when you entered the UK (usually an airport stamp) on the Entry Clearance. If that difference is no more than 3 months then you can start counting 'your' 5 years from the date when visa was issued ( NOT from the date of entry). If that difference is more than 3 months then you have to start counting 'your' 5 years from the date of entry. Remember, you still have 2 days as per point 1). However, if you are still short of days or weeks then you have t get an extension - to take you to 'your' 5 years, to make up the difference.  If you are on a Tier 1 General visa then you need another Tier 1 General extension.  If you are on a Tier 2 visa or a Work Permit then yo...

Driving Offences – new criminality rules from 13 December 2012

The new criminality rules for ILR and British Citizenship affected those with driving offences. When it comes to criminality, out of all convictions by far most common are driving offences. Drink-driving offences, driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and driving whilst using a mobile phone are not minor offences but they usually result in a non-custodial sentence, such as fine. Non-custodial sentence means there was no imprisonment but a punishment such as fine, points on licence etc. 1)     Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) – Permanent Residency: Before 13 Dec 2012: all convictions, including driving offences, had to become ‘spent’ before you could apply for an ILR. With most driving offences it was 5 years. From 13 Dec 2012: If you had such an offence then you can only apply for an ILR when 2 years have passed since the date of conviction (in many cases it means waiting less than 5 years under the old rules). This includes fines. It does no...

New Testimonial on EEA Family Permit application from Australia

"1st 4Immigration was a huge help to us and really made the application a lot easier". This came from Connal, an Australian national. He applied for an EEA Family Permit in Australia with our help from the UK with checking all the documents, forms and drafting letters. Our client applied on the basis of being married to an Italian citizen, they were both living in Melbourne. Our initial advice was that Connal did not need a visa to come to the UK. As a spouse of an EU citizen he would gain his rights automatically from the European law, without having to apply for a ‘visa stamp’. Australian nationals are known as non-visa nationals, ie they do not need a visitor visa to come in the UK, so this is sufficient for an airline to let one on a plane. Once in the UK, border control officers know the European immigration law and would allow a spouse of an EU citizen in (providing they are travelling together or EU spouse is already in the UK). However, in this case our c...
