Annual UK Government fees increase

Dear friends,

This time every year we inform our clients about possible increase in the fees the UK Government charges for visa applications and British Citizenship. This is not related to Brexit (other than it could be an excuse to charge even more!)

As a tax year begins on 6 April 2019, the higher fees usually take place. April may sound like a long way away but with UK visa or Citizenship applications, it is imperative to plan in advance.

We have no information (yet) whether the fees will change this year, and this has become the norm – the Government doesn’t announce it too early. We do, however, have last 10 years of experience to expect a yet another increase, as we do every year. When it does happen, the Government gives only a few days’ notice – to avoid the rush of applications before the higher fees take effect. Just look at what they did with health surcharge this January! It was announced on Friday 4th January 2019 that health surcharge would double to £400 per year from Tuesday 8th, that’s 2 working days’ notice.

If you are eligible – be safe and apply now to save money!

Current Government fees that are already very expensive:
Spouse entry visa: currently £1,523.
Spouse visa (switching or extension): currently £1,033.
Indefinite Leave to Remain: currently £2,389.
Next-day service surcharge: currently £610.
Biometrics: currently £19.20.
Tier 2 work visa: currently £482 - £928.
Tier 4 student visa: currently £485.
Tier 1 Entrepreneur extension: currently £1,277.
British Citizenship: currently £1,330.

Health surcharge £400 per year (doubled from £200 on 8 January 2019). For Tier 4 and 5 YMS £150 per year.

Applications for EU/EEA citizens and families: currently £65 but it has just been announced there would be no charge under the new Settlement scheme when it fully operates from 30 March 2019.

We look forward to working with you!
