✔️ Prove your right to work to your employer

With the UK Government providing more online services, you can prove your right to work or right to rent via the official portal. Of course, you can also show your passport and UK visa but some employers may wish to verify that.

If you have a Biometric Residence Permit (visa card), use this link to share your details with your employer. You have to authorise it first (i.e. share), otherwise no one can access your details, quite rightly, due to confidentiality. The process generates a code, which you can pass on to the employers.

If you are an employer, use this link to verify a job applicant’s status in the UK after they have shared a code with you. You can still check the original documents instead, such as passport and UK visa.

If you have a settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, you can instead use this link. Same if you applied using an ID check app. This service is for those who don’t have a BRP (a physical visa card) and only have an electronic proof of immigration status in the UK.

You can also prove your right to rent here, using a very similar process of sharing a code that allows the landlords or agents to check your details.

As always, to discuss your immigration situation with an experienced lawyer, please contact us or book a consultation here.
